All WiFi Scanning Apps have been pulled from the App Store

We received a very unfortunate email today from Apple stating that WiFi-Where has been removed from sale on the App Store for using private frameworks to access wireless information.

It also appears that all other competing WiFi enabled apps have been removed as well. This is very unfortunate as the past 2-3 months have seen a handful of new WiFi apps get approved.

Hopefully Apple will allow this functionality in a future SDK.

In the news

I'm trying to keep track of sites, as the news travels around, here:

Apple is as Apple does

Its time to jailbreak folks. We can get you this software back via cydia. I wrote yFy Network Finder, and it will live on in the underground. I think WiFi-Where should aswell. I've seen it in action, its a well written very stable application. Apple is doing itself a huge disservice by removing these very useful TOOLS from their customers. Applications like this made the platform far more useful. People will either jailbreak or, go to other platforms. Its a scary world when Windows Mobile is more open.

A stern wag of the finger to Apple... Developers Unite!

Time to downgrade my iPod

Time to downgrade my iPod Touch to 3.1.2 and jailbreak. The dev-team seems(?) to be getting close to a jailbreak for 3.1.3, I'm sure we'll see it sometime.

infomind and ThreeJacks, please do pursue the Cydia alternate-delivery-method so we can continue seeing improvements in these awesome apps!

So can the app. be downloaded

So can the app. be downloaded from your site? This sucks I was going to get a ipod touch to stumble with.

WTF? Yet another idiotic

WTF? Yet another idiotic decision from the Apple Store...I guess it's back to my WindowsMobile device for stumbling, too bad I can't return my iPhone with a strongly worded note to Apple.

Anywhere we can write to help appeal the decision?

Very sad to hear this. :(
